Anti-Rattle Hitch Tightener Clamp for 1.25″ to 2″ Receivers – Vehiclex Galvanized Heavy-Duty Stabilizer with 0.44″ U-Bolt, Rust-Proof for Trailers & Trucks

I have a 1.25″ hitch on my car, and the ball mount is a Curt Euro-style. This hitch tightener didn’t work for me when installed per the instructions — with the threaded end down. When installed this way, the bent portion that touches the ball mount wanted to slip off, since it is curved. However, when mounted upside down, it works perfectly. The only thing I had to do is cut off the excess threaded portion of the U clamp. To do this, I installed per the instructions and used a permanent marker to mark about 1/4″ of extra thread beyond the nut. I took it to the vise and used a cutoff wheel to get rid of the excess thread. Do this with the nuts installed so that you can back them off to clean up the threads where the cur was made. I then installed the hitch tightener — upside down — and ti works perfectly!For my previous car, I had a similar hitch tightener, but it only works if there is a lip at the opening of the hitch. The hitch on my current car does not have a lip, so there is nothing for it to grab onto. This hitch mound does not require a lip. I do wish they would make a version for 1/4″ hitches… but having said that, this thing is really beefy. I am certain that it will work well.
