Origins Paua Pebble Drops A pair of sterling silver double hanging pebble shaped drop earrings. The double hanging drop consists of two organic pebble shape pieces one lager than the other with the larger one having a textured finish and the smaller one has a polished finished with a Paua shell inlay. Paua, pronounced power, is the Mauri name used for what the Americans and Australians call abalone and the British call ormer. It a sea mollusc which is a common seafood, with the shell being used for decorative homewares and jewellery. The shells have lovely colour iridescence of greens, blues and purples which make it very desirable. The sterling silver ear-wires are also a big feature of these earrings as they are longer in length and therefore make the overall piece appear larger as the double hanging will be lower down on the neck.
