Sterling Silver Created Opal Studs A pair of created blue/green opal half drilled bead sterling silver studs. All components of these stud earrings have been sourced by ourselves and they have been assembled in house. Each created opal bead measures 6mm in diameter and is completely spherical and nestles snuggly into the cup and post fitting. Created or synthetic opals are made in a laboratory and can have advantages over natural opals, cost being the main one and the abundance is another factor. They are nearly the same chemically and physically as natural opal and have most of the characteristics, the main way to tell requires inspecting the stone to see for colour changes, therefore at a glance they would not necessarily be distinguishable. Still being considered a semi-precious stone these semi-precious bead studs have tumbled, polished and drilled, then they have been attached to a sterling silver stem and then a recycled sterling silver butterfly has been fitted to complete the earrings.
